Pretty disappointing run today, it was going OK until the 8th mile, I was feeling good, running with a 2 other guys, but it all suddenly went tits up. Didn't actually feel that bad from 8, but I just couldn't keep up the pace. The main target is 10k's anyway in the next couple of months, which the training at present is more geared to.
Also, I really don't think complete rest leading into a race suits me, in fact I seem to do better when I do the exact opposite. Cant say I felt any better with the easy week and 2 rest days, if fact I was much more stressed out not doing anything!
8th place, but a weak field compared to normal, and not even 1st M50. 1:19:06.
(I was actually faster at 10 miles today than at St Neots HM last year(1:17:28), which shows how bad the last 5k was today, well, the last 6 miles really! Pretty obvious I need to work on the endurance not the spped)

Thanks mate, good to see you there:-) It was a bit blustery for me, but I ran faster last year and it was far worse!

Good result for early in the season and seemed the conditions weren't great. You'll get quicker as the results of your new training regime really kicks in.

not too shabby mate ! as you say, you havent been training for halfs, more to come still...

You're just a bit short of long runs - maybe trying to get those in as the first priority and then going out on the bike if you have the time/energy would be a good plan. Looks like a very solid first 8 miles, which is encouraging.

I agree Bob, I will have to put the running first and just do whatever cycling fits in after that. Definitely need to do more long runs, today showed that!
