Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Notes & Comments

Delighted with this. Couldn't believe how easy it felt. Aim had been marathon target pace (6:06/2:02:00), but taking into account: 1) the course was undulating and 2) it would have been nice to get under two hours.

First 10 miles felt like an easy training run and never struggled to keep up the pace. Only really pushed it in last two miles (the biggest uphill part of the race).

Official time 1:58:39. 1:58:09 on Garmin for 20.

In hard statistical terms, equal to my best PB at any distance. About 20 seconds outside PB for half-marathon on the way.

Problem continues with hamstring - very tight all the way, though it eased the longer it went. Two hamstring "twinges", but managed to carry on running.

I may need to revise target for marathon to sub-2:35.

Only downside is that feet were hurting in flats by about 18 miles so I don't think I can run a marathon in them.
