Punk Panther 6 Dales Trail 20. In the grand tradition of trail races, it's actually just over 22 miles. Fine organisation, car parking ample and right by the start/end, not many checkpoints and on a hot day you might want to carry a lot of water, but quality was absolutely fine. Lovely route with some steep stuff then a good quality path by a reservoir and back again. Hills, sheep, dry stone walls, a few extremely muddy sections including one puddle so big I think I spotted the OS surveying it to add to the map, but that's February for you. Weather forecast was for a strong wind following on the out and in your teeth on the return, with heavy rain later. In the end most of the route was reasonably protected, though I won't in a hurry forget one stretch running straight into the wind that was carrying fine hail with it. Ow. Black toenail count 1, faceplant count 0 but I have no idea how I got away with it after one spectacular skid! All that yoga balance, or the biggest lugs on any of my shoes getting traction in the end?
