Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Wimbledon Common parkrun

njosmith Massive PB this morning. I had a good preparation for this race, good mileage (though fairly light by marathon training standards), ate healthily all week. I was up early so I had time for breakfast a good hour before the race. I also had a lucozade energy bar and made myself up a body fuel drink which I had in the ten minutes before the start. I don't know if it is physcological or not but I felt strong the whole way through the race. I tried not to go out too quick and didn't check my watch for awhile but when I did pace was 6.48. I then tried to slow it down to 7 minute miles without overcompensating and going to slow. I got it about right as at half way I had a time of 11.08 so I knew a PB was on and just had too keep going. I usually run the last section too slow as I struugle to maintain the effort but the marathon training is obviously paying of and second half of the race was almost exactly the same speed as the first.

two laps, fast trail course
19th Jan 2019

Two laps on woodland trails. Flat, but watch out for roots and mud. Start is by the windmill on the Common. Bus 93 passes nearby, or bus 85 along the A3 and then walk through the woods.
25th May 2019

Two flat but tricky laps around the woodland. Gets VERY muddy in winter and you need to look out for tree routes along the way. Car park gets very busy these days...
Yazoo 28th May 2019

The week I ran this course, there was a Hornets Nest so the course was run in reverse and with a diversion. An enjoyable run in the summer, soft underfoot. Would guess it would be very boggy in the winter.
Akkers 27th Aug 2022

Two laps of gently rolling trail, hard packed gravel in places and topsoil soft mud in others. Can be very muddy in winter and crowded start. Arrive early for the car park (by 8:30). There are loos close to the briefing/finish area and a busy cafe
