Mother T SOOOO........I absolutely caned the pool swim, I overtook 2 other people in my lane 4 times which would suggest my actual time was around 2.5 mins quicker than official result, the length counter miscounted me by 6 lengths.....I was RAGING, hence the very quick T1 time....bike leg was really windy, and pleased with 7th quickest, but know if no wind could have gone faster, but everyone else could have too maybe? Got alot of good roadkill and also a perfectly timed catch and overtake in front of a camera and my support crew! T2....dont see how I can make this any quicker, been practicing bike dismounts and it worked really well.....the run out was ok and went through first 5k in around 23:30...then came Gants Hill....OMG....that is one steep mother...half way up I threw up, then again 200m later.....reached the top of the hill and ran on the ridgeway...felt what I thought was either a stone or a stick in my shoe, started the descent and had to stop as the pain was too much in my foot, put my finer inside the instep of my shoe and removed what I thought was debris, turned out it was skin...I had a blister caused by running with no socks, and putting no talc inside the shoes...learnt from this, only short runs with this config again! Continued the descent down and felt the other foot start too blister...the pain, oh jesus the pain, had too slow down alot which compromised the time, this will NEVER happen again....reaching the crossover point and turn for home the jovial marshall informed me it was only about a K to go....yeah, OK.....make that nearly 3..!! the path home was flat and fast and I was cursing all the way along with the blisters and know I could have run it faster, was met by Paul and Abs who ran me in with about 500m to go, this was a great lift as I was in ALOT of pain...sprinted the last 100m which means there was some left in the tank but the pain held me back.....finished and then just ripped off trainers to inspect the damage....5 epic blisters with one skinless.....I am concerned about this one as I am racing in 4 days time, albeit only a short one. Overall, pissed off with swim counters but they are only volunteers, finished 13th officially, but my reckoning knowing how well I swan I came 10th, good bike course with plenty of opportunities to test all the training out, run course is stunning, even with the disgusting hill, shamme there wasnt more competitors, and results service is slow, but if you take advantage of the entry off its very good value for money.....
