Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Wabo What any of us expected, I can't say but we all did the handicap the day before so that says it all! I set off feeling pretty lively really, just under a mile till you get to the trail part of the race, and the first hill!! I got up t hat no problem, Sacha had already disappeared ahead so I just concentrated on getting up hills! I had mentioned a hill earlier but Sacha gave me a look that meant - I'm not listening!! When I hit the hill I had been picturing, I thought it would never end.. All around me weary people were walking up and I reckon we had only gone maybe 3 miles??? Happy to say I did not walk that one either, though it was tough, I kept pulling my upper body up (read that somewhere).
We turned off the main path and went into a foresty path, very nice (downhill in places). Mainly you climb until you reach about 6 miles, but the view at that point is awesome!! The Chiltern Hills stretch out before your eyes, the marshall always tells you to take in the view, not sure if speedy ones do??

Anyway, at that point you do have one nasty little hill followed by one long drag. I got up both but the last long drag undid me! I really felt that not much was in the tank and even though it was mainly downhill, I really couldn't let myself go as I felt my legs would buckle! We all felt that way I think. Previous times were 1.34 something so I would have liked to go under but it was not happening after yesterday's race. 1.35 something but I feel positive about the race, legs were tired and tbh I haven't run that far for some time. garmin measured 9.71.
