Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Big Al Widepants Training has been good but you always think you could have done more (and drunk less). Update - finally made it to the promised land of sub 45. It feels good but I want the holy of holies (sub 43). The race started with a nice gentle downhill and I got off to a good one with Phantom tucked in behind. Got a bit of a shock when he said we were through the first kilo in 3.50! and the first mile in 6.07. Settled down after that and ran 7.04, 7.20 (a 5k pb by 40 secs), 7.17, 7.28 (5 miles in 35.19 pb), 7.23 and 2.11 for the last bit. Smirring rain and cool temperature with no wind made for a pb course and that's what happened. The hill in the last kilo was on rough trail and was a bit of a killer. Even after the hill ended it was a slow grind to the finish. Onwards and upwards. It's a pb by 1.30. I've got to be delighted.

biru Approx time. Nice conditions for racing today....little wind and cool temperature. A potentially fast course for the most part, long stretch of down hill for part of the way out and no really steep bits until almost the very end. Recurrent piriformis injury didn't bother me during the race, was a good idea to take 4 days off leading upto the race.

Dave_K Really worked for this one. Own fault due to hangover! The hill at the end is still tough. As always a really well run event.

Siouxsie Ambitious prediction, but that's the time I want. Not injured this time, can run 7.40mm's for 5 miles, so it's up to me to get it. **UPDATE** Disappointed not to get sub 48. Garmin time logged just now. Should've tried harder, especially on the climb to the finish. I am very happy with the PB though and enjoyed the race. Will do it again next year.

Vic Mason Felt very positive before and during the race which I think helped me put in a PB time. The weather conditions were ideal for me. Temp 14 degree and overcast with a very little breeze.
