Tim in Holland A blustery race, I tried to keep the pace down at the start, hard with the coastguard helicopter fly bys. It was then round the marina and onto the shingle foreshore listening to the Audio Bully's, looking for the harder footing rather than following the crowd, up on to the muddy path, the path and puddles seeming firmer than the grass alongside, so it was the wet puddle route for me, suprisingly passing a few. It was then across some common land and on to the parks, Welcome to the Paradise city ringing loud in my ears, I let the pace start to increase here, starting to overtake people and build. On to the promenade and some Florence and the Machine to take me in to the blustery cross/headwind, pace up and down a little, but still overtaking.

It was then up passed the Pyramid centre, starting to let the legs reach, the wind hinting onto my back, the pace increased further, going passed people the rain increasing. I probably increased the pace a little too much, heading round for the final stretch into the wind was a struggle, but I kept reeling people in, for a final sprint finish. There heart and lungs were pumping, but after the end there was plenty left in the legs, perhaps I should have gone faster earlier! I'll have to wait until next time to try that.

A shower followed by a sports massage and a walk back to the car before celebrating with large cod, chips and mushy peas. A drive back to Reading in time to watch Ireland narrowly get beaten by France and a few pints of the dark stuff.
