Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Flat Out Fi Grasmere Gallop 10k race! its the third time Ive done this race and its a lot bigger this year! approx 500 entrants we were told!

The course was the same as last year - v scenic but also v tough in places too!

Before the start I spotted a Springfield Striders top which turned out to be Roger Gooding who was also up there on hols! He had been fell racing earlier in the week! We had a chat on the walk down to the start behind the man playing bagpipes!

The race went well and I felt strong despite having to walk a couple of the really steep bits!

Was delighted to come 4th lady overall and 3rd in the 30-40 year old age group! They read me out as 3rd prize and gave me a trophy and bottle of wine! Then realised they had messed up so had to take it all back from me (how embarrassing!) but I ended up getting a free lunch for the two of us the following day at the Sticklebarn in lovely Langdale so it turned out fine in the end!

N did the race in just over an hour but was disappointed with his time.

Its a great race and I plan to book my hols around it next year too! :o))

madaboutmads First time doing this race, didn't realise how it was more like a run over the himalaya's,that and the heat made for tough going, for me anyway.Fun running down the hills and on the few flat bits.Hills hard work if your not prepared, disappointed in the amount of people who just threw their water cups rather than put them in the huge bins provided at the stations, and also the tourists tutting at me as i photobombed their award winning holiday snaps. All in all a great race, and doing it again this year, and am so ready for the hills.
