Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

RACE REPORT - MBrace Runners Quest 1/2 Marathon

This was realy ever only going to be a trg run as due to my injuries of late have not done a run over 9m, set a target of 1:40 to 1:45, aim was to start slow and build up if I had the strength.

The weather was a mixed bag of Sun, breezey and wet. The field consisting of about 150 persons, was good to meet up with a few forumits beforehand.

The race with a good warm up is a 6 lap affair around hackney marshes, all on cycle paths and footpaths.

so to the off,

1m 7:13 Ops a bit too fast
2m 7:31 Still too fast but comfy
3m 7:22 Why cant i slow down onto lap 2 and feeling good and settled.
4m 7:37 Thats a bit better pick up a few places too.
5m 7:40 Got attacked by a Jack Russell of the lead, really pi**ed me off, tried biting my trainer as I was running owner did nothing, not even a call back 0- so spoke to marshalls who sorted issue out and got guy to put dog back on lead. No damage and into lap 3
6m 7:28 Still feeling strong and running steady and well within target, now starting to overtake people and giving encouragement as i go.
7m 7:30 move past 1/2 way and into lap 4
8m 7:19 a blast of pace from somewhere
9m 7:32 Still going (checking to see if there is a battery compartment with duracell in as am still motoring at a good pace, am I going to hit the wall, as no longer than 9m done in last 2 months.
10m 7:20 hit 10 mile in under 75 mins and well into the 5th lap now, get over taken by the no1 and 2 runners, I am still passing runners and could be on for top 20 - 25.
11m 7:32 still going still steady......
12m 7:49 legs now tired but well inside last lap, closing in on leading lady.
13.1m 8:01 Catch leading lady with 800m to go, tell here to come with me and she does, get out sprinted by another runner who I have overtaken 3 times only to be taken back 3 times, come in with leading lady at same time 1:38:00.

So target well achieved (a fetch PB) but still 7:30 off my main PB, so a good effort and overall really happy with an even paced race.

Injury held up well and now just stiff

sly1 A horrible experience!
I'm sure i could've broken 2 hrs if i'd been feeling well, and my hips and ankle weren't hurting so much.
Oh well, there's always next time!
