Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Plussing As Which Had a real rush getting to the race but when I got there was feeling pretty good. Underfoot conditions were tricky as the grass was long and it was boggy in places. Set off steadily but soon pushed on and enjoyed the steady climb up. Tried to maintain the tempo in the second half without breaking an ankle and was glad that I'd opted for my Walshes - uintill I hit the last 400m or so on tarmac - felt like someone had replaced my legs with planks of wood! 1st lady and 21st overall (i think) and 1st team.Oh, and 4 mins faster than last year! (This was my first race as a Carnegie Harrier last year!) Good to see Fetchies out in force running (Baza, ias62, SueW) and marshalling (Fat Boy, May, Magoo) and supporting (LorraineS)

Baza Ran 40:38 last year on a dry course, have heard its very muddy and the grass is longer for this one - Just have to hope for the best. *Update*, Great run, 1 minute quicker than 2006 and I felt the course was tougher this year, the grass was longer and it was softer underfoot in a lot of places. Started steady and picked the pace up about 3 miles in and finished strongly picking of some experianced runners on the way back. Opted to run in a air of Inov8's and these worked a treat until you hit the last 300 mtres or so of concrete where you'd be quicker walking!! Well organised and a good feed afterwards too.

IanS Quite a tough run, not as muddy as I expected but the long grass was a bit of a killer by the top of the hill! Might just have to do it again next year to break 50 mins but I'll get a proper pair of trail shoes before then - my feet were moving around way too much in my old Asics road shoes and I've got a couple of impressive blisters to show for it.
Congratulations to all the organisers from Carnegie for a very well organised event. The cakes were also very nice!

SueW very enjoyable outing. Tough course esppecially after enough rain to grow a rain forest of grass! Took it very steady to avoid impacting on Thursday's planned long run
