Applecross (Guesstimate time). Wow, what an amazing race! Had good first 10 or so miles, then hit rocky bits and lost any sort of rhythm - struggled a bit till cleared the boulders after Pools of Dee, then galumphed down to Rothiemurchus Forest, where I had another wee internal battle. Time a bit slow (had hoped to be under 5), but relatively happy, as a lot of times were slow compared to previous years and because I truly had no idea what I was letting myself in for. Excellent company from Loon Dod for first half of the race

Loon Dod it was very wet and the Stream crossings were quite fast and deep. I have discovered that Variofocal lenses rain water and Boulder fields do not go together I could not run across the 2.5 miles at the top due to depth of field changing and theirfore falling over will need to see optician about a diffrent prescription just for running when you are constantly having to look where you put your feet.The first 8 miles I ran sensibly and the last 5 miles I was doing 8 min miles but section in the middle I could not get up a good speed Its a great race through the heart of the Cairngorms. Great to run with Applecross and meet up with friends.
