Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

johntz This was my second 10 miler ever (following from the Thames Tow Path 10 last month) and my first race with my new club. Decided to hammer the opening couple of miles, which I didn't know at the time were mostly uphill. Reached mile 4 feeling pretty knackered, so just hung on for dear life. By mile 7 I had kinda recovered, and painfully stumbled to the finish. I was slightly surprised to have lobbed off 6 minutes from my month old PB, but I suppose thats what it's like as a beginner.

Leg End Yet another good one!… Set out with 1:20 (8 m/m) in mind but didn't really expect to make it. A little behind schedule @ 7 m, so pushed hard (a little TOO hard) for miles 8 & 9 and suffered in m 10. For once I couldn't wind up the last mile. But did what I set out to do! 21st C and age-graded PB.

Um Bongo I have only done one 10 miler before and that was 2 years ago so PB was always on. Wanted to get in under 1:20 and set Garmin accordingly -until mile 3 I was well ahead and then garmin went mad and in space of yards I was behind!! Went back to old stop watch. Miles 4 and 5 felt tired but remembered to focus on these middle miles as this is where I have lost time before. From 7 onwards felt strong and picked up pace slightly. First race since FLM so wasn't sure of race fitness. Heard RobH behind me from about mile 7 so that kept me going -thought he would try and pass in in last mile so kept pushing on. Last mile I could have pushed harder and the end came sooner than expected so quick finish ended up being a 150 meter dash. Anyway achieved target and am reasonably pleased wish now I had gone that bit faster and got under 1:19.
