Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

DANBERT I'd always fancied this race. 7+ miles over roads, timber trails and footpaths around the spectacular scenery of Grasmere and Rydal water sounded the business and I’m sure it would have been if it hadn’t been for the heat and humidity. We started on the road at Grassmere Village (going along the south side of Grassmere) the course then left the road going onto a foot path that climbed up and along Loughrigg Terrace (where there were some great views.) I actually managed this section of the course reasonably well (perhaps too well in retrospect) but when we dropped down onto the road going around Rydal water I started to wilt badly, so much so that by the time we hit the woodland to the south side Grasmere again I was reduced to walking and feeling extremely miserable with myself. I found the heat and humidity too much of a challenge today in fact it beat me. After the disappointment of Garburn last weekend for the same reasons I reckon I’m just not cut out for racing in hot weather. If nothing else at least I’ve learnt something about myself this last fortnight.
