Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Diogenes My first marathon. I had unrealistic expectations of how prepared I was. Nothing can make up for miles under the belt. Having said that I totally enjoyed the experience. All my issues are of my own making, apart from the all but inedible pasty. My knees and my feet hate me but I am trying to love myself for my achievement. It was good to run with Torbay for the first 13 miles.

paskha 33rd marathon, 9th Duchy. No prediction for this, I just hoped I would be able to get round. Terrible lack of training ... no long runs since Cornish Marathon in November ... three weeks before I had the flu ... two weeks before I managed 10 miles on the Friday & 10 miles on the Saturday (walking some) ... one week before I did 14 miles in torrential rain - apart from a few shorter runs, that was it. Ironically, I got 3rd FV55 trophy AND 3rd ladies team trophy (last year I did a PB and beat all the FV50s, but got no award!) I had a new digi camera, so spent some time taking photos ... Ran quite a lot of the time with Hippo which was good! I haven't written to the organisers yet but they need to know it was a serious disaster when there was NO WATER at mile 9, then none at mile 12 either. I stopped running as it was warm. Back on the main road there was a shop!!!!!!!! thank god I found my locker £1 coin in my bum bag ... 60p for 500ml bottle of water, how crazy is that

plodding hippo Given my injury, i was delighted to have been able to run without walking until almost 10 miles at 12 min miling.
The complete absence of water between 6 and 15 miles didnt help my situation though.Very lonely second loop-and surprisingly i managed to overtake one other person.A fairly undulating course, but the water issue and attitude to slower runners do mean that i wont be back to do this one again.Still, one cant like EVERY marathon in the country!!
