justphil My first ever marathon. It was hilly with a steep hill of over a mile at the 24 mile mark. Pleased with the time and the fact I felt I could have gone faster and I never hit the wall even on the final hill known locally as The Hell OF The West. A marathon I would recommend to anyone. Well organised and beautiful scenery.

paul the builder My first marathon, and really looking forward to it. Hoping to dip under 4:00, but mostly just hoping to enjoy it...
... Provisional time 3:56:53, and I'm really pleased. Before the day, I thought I might be capable of 3:50 or even a little under - but having met the hills in person, I soon got a reality check. It's my first marathon, and I loved it. Sure it was hard work, and there were low points - but I ran all the way, had no major fuelling or hydration problems, and generally kept pushing on as I had hoped.
And - Connemara is one helluva place to hold a marathon - every step of the way is just beautiful. I really recommend running this.
