Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I finally did it. I finally got under the 50 minute mark for a 10k race. I don't think I was quite ready after my 51+'s in the last couple of weeks. Well the Concorde is a flat race and I had a great hare, Michelle for the H&HRR's. I always knew if I was close to her I would be under 50. I overtook her with about 200m to go.
I am not sure how good the km markers were as they were always tied to lamppost's. I missed the first 1k marker but got to the second 9'21. This was OK so far. It was quite warm out there, fortunately not as much as last time I ran this race. it was bearable. 3km was 4'47, again sub five so going nicely. The 4k mark was 5'01, I was worried now I was losing time badly. I left my water bottle at home so I had to rely on water stations, there was but one at 5km which also saw a split of 5'20, getting slower.
The 6km mark was better at 5'04, by now I was trailing Michelle so i knew I had to keep up. I never had enough to overtake at any point until the end. By the 7k split of 4'47 I was back on. Now I was conscious I was going to be close to sub 50. Split 8k was a slow 5'25 but just after 9km I overtook Michelle but i was also overtaken by Paul and I was by now trying hard to catch him up. That was enough to see me home with a final split of 5 minutes dead and a time of 49'26. I am so pleased to finally acheive that goal. Sub 45 the next target?
