Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Grey Badger Running this inbetween 2, 12hr night shifts, i must be mad. Weather forecast not brilliant either.
UPDATE!!!!!! Weather wasn't as bad as expected and i ran ok. Hamstring was very tight throughout so took it steady for first half. Took a bad line up Hedgehope and lost time and places. Finished in 16th place. 8min faster than last year, so still improving. Great event and very well run by Wooler Running Club and helpers.

only2legs Chevy Chase - 20 miles of very tricky terrain, v steep uphill, even worse downhill and horrible conditions at the summits - nice marshals though and scenery was great!!
I would just like to say - What an extremely mad event for extremely mad people!!
I'm happily a 5k road runner, sometimes 10k, but mainly I like to keep it short and simple...
So why did I enter this race?
Why after I'd seen some of the hills, heard about the conditions at the tops of Cheviot and Hedgehope and taken in the importance of the map, compass, whistle, checkpoints and basic life saving kit did I actually turn up to the start line?
Why did I keep going when I could see the retirement points?
and why did I enjoy (some of) it so much?
The answer is: there is none; but running next to my wife helped and after 12 miles in I didn't want to have suffered that much and got nothing out of it!!
I'm very proud that we got round and pleased that I was capable of 20 tough miles off the back of 8miles longest training run - don't try this at home kids!
Anyway, massive congrats to the other nutters out there: Dr Nic, Jude, my dad and the other fetchies.
PS - is it still madness if there's 300 other people doing it too?!
