Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Cliffy tc Not expecting a PB after swimming 2km and cycling for 78km. Will be happy just to finish!!! As I've just stated, wasn't expecting a PB but just over 10mins off it and that was with run/walk. Started badly off the bike with pain in my shins which cleared after about 3 miles, carried on up to 5 miles when the hills started. It then turned into a run/walk just to get me round the course. Really chuffed to finish the event and crossed the finish line with my daughter.

Crash Hamster Bala Middle Distance Triathlon...my first attempt at this distance.

The weather was fairly hot and sunny...

My swim was poor to start with, but found a rhythm and left the water in 44:30.

The bike was ok, I thought that I'd never make it back to Bala with the undulating but hard last section...then suddenly the 'mostly ups' became 'mostly downs' and I was flying again :o)

The run was hard, hot and hilly, but it went ok and I'm really pleased with my time :o)

Hollywoof! My brief Bala race report:

Aim for the day (decided on the morning):
- swim - only event that uses the arms and swimming is a strength now - so sub-34 minutes please.
- bike - see if you can get home in 16.6mph average - 3 hour target.
- run - it's a hilly HM - so sub 2 hour aim.

As it happened:

- swim - stunning - not too cold - steady first kilometer - blitzed the return leg home overtaking heaps of swimmers - Shiraz says I was about 20th in just over 30 minutes :o)

- T1 - awful - I was slow - forgot to start getting my wetsuit off immediately - then couldn't get it off...

- bike - long... had some back problems (injured last week - overtraining?)... got overtaken by so many cyclists (as expected - serves me right for swimming so quick)... got truely awesome support from the pirate supporters :o)

- T2 - quite quick - but got told off (but no penalty) for undoing my helmet early and wasted a few seconds as I started running without my Garmin and had to go back.

- run -
