paskha A week after TRESCO / LONDON marathons. It was a lovely day and I decided to cycle to Helston (13 miles). Left home 8:20am. Took it easy, arrived feeling good at 9:30am. Race start 10:30am. I'd done nothing all week since Tresco and ran better than I thought I would and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a lovely course through the Penrose Estate, round the lake, through the trees and shade, rough path though, then down steep to the beach, across Loe Bar, sand in shoes! trotting along the coastal path - it is definitely worth pausing for a moment to take in the view (don't look whilst running!) - south towards the Lizard, cliffs and coves ... back on tarmac for a couple of miles of quiet country roads, then back on the main road past Culdrose, these last 2 miles are hard cos they are boring - Maggie (Newquay RR) was just 10 secs ahead and got the 3rd FV50! I was glad though - that was nice for her as she'd just turned 50 - and I got one last year!!
