NordRundeer🦌: The Fjellmaraton can be like that sometimes (but not often that deep). It's at Valdres, above the Beitostølen ski resort. You get bussed to the start and it's a net downhill. -

Flatlander: Thanks both. The road had been opened only about a week before (I checked just before I left Bergen on 9th May.) I estimate that the wall was about 5m tall. That marathon must be a quad buster!
