Hope you feel better soon, H. Let's hope 'your' elderly couple manage OK with their puppy, Baroness. It's not something I would recommend, for sure. Will they get any support from the son?
It's such a shame because there are so many rescue dogs that could be suitable for them, and a lot easier.

The son lives some distance (more than an hour's drive) away.
Spoke to the couple (well the wife) on the phone after receiving the email about the puppy (which is paid for it seems). They are in a different house since they last had a dog. I asked a few questions like have they found a vet they are going to register with... No... but that won't be a problem and anyway the dog will have had its jabs so they won't need a vet for about a year anyway So they are not thinking of going to puppy socialisation classes at the vets then... Good God No - they can take the dog to the nearby park where there are loads of dogs it can socialise with........
I just hope their son is prepared to take on a second dog if it comes to it........ I have a very bad feeling about the whole situation, I hope of course that I am proved wrong for all their sakes......

That doesn't sound promising, does it? They probably won't be going to any obedience classes either then.

I don't know what Raffo lets Jess get up to while I'm away.....
She has claimed MY sofa now! (She usually shares his as mine is smaller) She'll have to move when i want to watch the telly. Which frtunately for her isn't that frequently because I'm always up here n the studio at my Mac typing away.....

Also while I was away - this morning in fact - Jess was sick ... and threw up two medium small pebbles! Good grief! We both throw pebbles for her on the beach but didn't think she'd try to eat them!
Actuallly I throw bigger ones so I hope Raffo (and Jess) have learned their lesson.

Don't let that become a habit.....you need to reclaim your sofa!!
However, we now get barked at to switch the electric fire on ... regardless of whether it is the depths of winter and freezing or the warmest day of the year so far.
As far as I am concerned - I decide whether and when the fire is switched on.... J on the other hand, gets told
