HG: exactly. It was in at No 38 or so... in November! :-o

Sticking to R1 and Capital in the car and refusing to let the kids have Heart on - still in. :)

Merry Christmas and Happy NewG(rrr)
I just checked on the Official UK Chart (or whatever they call themselves) - was only Number 2 in 1984, various other positions, but then Number 1 in 2007 and it's Number 8 or something now? Ridiculous.

No commercial radio or shopping centres for me. I might make it! :-) G

I'm hoping I can go all the way. I don't listen to the radio and we get our groceries delivered. I will have to go in the shopping centre for some Christmas prezzies but I'm hoping it can be a quick dash and cash for the duration of, say, Jona Lewie.

Purps
I'm actually really excited to hear songs, but I'm also up for seeing how long it is before I accidentally hear it.

I'm getting wham pyjamas for my birthday. :)

Day 2, still in.
It is however making listening to the radio on the way to work in the morning rather stressful!

Anyone that gets Wham’d can console themselves with watching Last Christmas on Netflix (Luckily I watched it in November).

Happy - Last Christmas was 'only' number 2 in 1984, coz a certain 'Band Aid single was also released at the same time and shifted 750,000 (or something similarly ridiculous) copies in first week. Most other years Wham would have comfortably been number one. What also helped Wham's overall sales was that in the January they announced that all profits would go to charity and they flipped the single and played the other 'A' side on the radio. So got longer sales/chart period than traditional for a Christmas single. With streaming proved one of the top performers in recent times also.

Sushi.
My RS teacher did a whole class on the top 3 that year to illustrate different kinds of love.

Frankie goes to Hollywood - The Power of Love was no3.

Still in.

Biggest risk is the Special Care nursery at work where the radio is often on.

I don’t often get babies in there but if in charge will be in and out all shift.

Day 1:

About This Thread

Maintained by Sigh
GOOGLE SHEET HERE:

docs.google.com

Sheet for 2024 is on the first tab; you update your own entry. As with previous years, we're also tracking the number of repeated 'hits' for those who are out before the end (if you want to).

Who's up for the challenge then? whamageddon.com

"The 1st Rule
The objective is to go as long as possible without hearing WHAM's Christmas classic; "Last Christmas".

The 2nd Rule
The game starts on December 1st, and finishes at the end of December 24th.
Use your local timezone, if you'd like.

The 3rd Rule
Only the original version applies.

The 4th Rule
You're out as soon as you recognise the song.

Player vs Player?
While we can't stop you from deliberately sending your friends to Whamhalla, the intention is that this is a survival game. Not a Battle Royale. So ... don't be a dick, okay?"
