Yes Lady is an absolute unit. She's not always polite with it either. Mostly the power all goes in the right direction (which is amazing when it's all going in the right places) but occasionally she'll just swing those slabs of shoulders in just the wrong way and there's not a lot to be done. When I was schooling her we went through a phase of randomly diverting into the middle of the school with me turning the air blue and getting cramp in my left buttock trying to keep her on the straight and narrow. 😂 she doesn't do tanking off in a straight line thankfully but she has a nice turn in a terrifying on the spot canter!

A work in progress and probably always will be. But we're having fun in the process.

But Tommy is much easier. Especially for a grin-inducing, no fuss needed razz round the field. As long as he's by himself and not losing his head trying to race with Lady.

Then, 20 years after I started riding, I finally got my Very Own horse!

Jack 16hh ISH. Had 'issues', then got a bad kick in the field 6 weeks after I bought him. 8 months or so of box rest, then gentle work. Still had 'issues'.

13 months after I bought him, we had him PTS as he just wasn't happy in life.

8 months after I bought Jack, I went on a horse riding holiday to restore a bit of the confidence I'd lost through his 'issues'.

I came home with a new horse.

Tilda. My horse of a lifetime. My absolute soulmate.

I lost her to colic less than 5 years after I got her, and even now, nearly 6 years later, it breaks my heart to think of that day.

(I usually ALWAYS wear a hat, on this occasion my friends daughter was riding and I just jumped on at the ends. Not an excuse, but it was very much an exception)

For a couple of years I just had Tilda.

Then I bought an 16.1hh TB ex racer, Eddie.

Sadly we just didn't click, and I sold him to a friend 4 months later.

Meanwhile, I figured two horses wasn't enough, so a month after I bought Eddie, I bought another ex racer, Q.

I had her for about 18 months, but ultimately I always felt a bit too heavy for her, so eventually I gave her to my yard manager.

Meanwhile... 😂

Once I'd decided to moved on from Q, but a few months before I actually did, I bought Rio, 17.1hh Dutch warmblood.

He was BIG, he was beautiful, he was amazingly lazy and hard work to ride, and had only a few brain cells, but I adored the very bones of him. I had to sell him after 4 years as my other horse was injured and I couldn't afford her rehab on top of his livery, so he went 😢

And with Tilda

I'm still gutted about it, especially as I sold him to the girl that was sharing him for a while, and she was actually the one that injured my other horse, and so the whole reason I had to sell him!
