Morning! I made the mistake of jogging yesterday. Ankle is behaving but cald is raging. I've been assuming it was muscle strain but someone mentioned achilles and now I'm a bit more worried. I didn't know the achilles was so long.

The oain is slightly inside, starting about 1 inch above the heel and continuing 2-3 more. Tender to touch. Sore going up or down stairs.

ITG careful if it is Achilles they have a poor blood flow so a real pain to treat and can take a while to recover hopefully it is the bottom of the soleus ice & rest for 48 hrs would be my recommendation!

um
ITG - my physio always seems to treat the calf as well as the obvious 'thin' bit of the achilles.

I find, with a long grumbling achilles, not when in inflamed angry mode, that rubbing Deep Heat in the lower calf & achilles helps a lot. And stretching. But not when already sore.

Sounds like time for a bit of a rest.

Yeah, everything I read says: RICE. I wouldn't have run yesterday at all if the marathon had not been cancelled because I could feel it wasn't right. I'll stick to biking and swimming (that's rest, right?) It only grumbles a bit on the bike but I'll avoid long rides and stick to fetchpoint. I also need to do some core work so hopefully can motivate myself for some non-calf straining stuff, although I cannot get to my pull-up bar and dare say I can barely do it anymore (sad face).

No running for me, decided to have a rest day as it's so hot. I had a walk into town instead. I had to pay a cheque into my bank account! Didn't know they still exist!

I'm going to go for a hot walk when I knock off work. Think I'll have to get up super-early to do my run tomorrow.

So this happened once. Then I sprained my ankle in spectacular fashion (but it was just a fluke of timing. I'd never have got past the last 16).
