Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Me and Hendo last night.

On reflection Dio, your description is absolutely bang on. Being in the mosh pit at Pup gigs and Frank Turner gigs is an absolute feeling of euphoria, it helps that neither artists seem to attract the kind of pissed up dickheads you’ll get at a LG gig. The kids look out for each other and none of them ever seem out of control, just a shared sense of looking out for each other and having a good time. In stark contrast to most blokes of my age who seem to ‘get a pass from the Mrs’ and then go on an all day bender prior to a gig so that they can annoy the shit out of everybody.

And the Pup part has just rolled into Bristol with me and my eldest lad as I go for the hat trick and the first band I’ve seen three nights consecutively.

I don’t think I have seen any band three nights consecutively. I have seen quite a few twice in two nights, including a trip from Fermanagh to Glasgow to Dublin to see the Airborne Toxic Event on consecutive nights.

Joopsy-super-fanboy. (it's getting hard to tell you & Hendo apart)

We've got Readers two nights running in December. The tickets were always going to sell out in a seconds, so as it was a bit pot-luck we all tried to buy tickets ... and we were all successful!

I love SRC but see post above for middle aged pissed up dickheads Flanker. Every time I’ve seen them it’s been full of them.

And yes to the fanboy thing, I’m taking the family to Leeds on Monday as well.

I am seeing Frank Turner four on the bounce next year in Berlin at his Lost Evenings festival. I think 1step is at that too.

Joops, can you ask Hendo to get young D to reprise her piano self accompanied version of FT's Ballad of Me and My Friends please? It was awesome! When's she going gigging?! :-) G

Joops, never had that problem with SRC gigs (and we've done a fair few :-)), either stood at the back or down on the barrier.

Maybe it's down to them being a local band with a fanatical following, or maybe it's down to you being a lot closer to Essex and places with big wage packets!

Joopsy, GG was going to be my next husband before Emma Peel's daughter got her sticky mitts on him! Then again, I do actually still need to get that goddam divorce, despite leaving my husband 13 years ago :-) I am actually an entirely unapologetic Elbow fan. Seeing them at Jodrell, then a few years later at Delamere was brilliant. And Manchester, needless to say, is always a class home act.

Again though (and I'm on the fan forum, so have a lot of time for most), the 'too cool' crowd at these gigs piss me off. I mean really, if you want to go to a gig and not move, give those of us who do a bit of space and stop the scowling instead of standing at the barrier nodding your head! I should add, my moshing days are long gone. I just don't go to gigs to play at being too cool.

I do need to find another gig though. Might take a look at Mono in Glasgow and see what they've got coming up. Kristen Hersh played there earlier this year and I bloody missed it!

Have you seen the Bandsintown app, OM. It seems a good way to keep track of who is playing in a particular area.
