Are we ready to continue with our little quiz? There are some definite elephants in the room, so to speak
Here's the list as it stands - quite a few Wainwrights remain unidentified so far:
Green Gable (partial) Fleetwith Pike (partial) Haystacks Kirk Fell (partial) Mellbreak Fellbarrow Red Pike (B) Rannerdale Knotts High Stile Wandope Grasmoor Whiteless Pike Low Fell

Mr SD was going up Great Gable from Wasdale yesterday, when he met a group of walkers who asked him where Scafell Pike was, as that was where they heading. They seemed to be relying on their phone for mapping 🤦♀️ and not all of them seemed very confident. He explained that it was still a fair trek, but pointed out the Corridor Route and off they went! He said he was fretting about them all day, but never heard any reports of rescued walkers on local radio. You do have to wonder though 🤔

It really is quite scary, isn't it. My last visit to Scafell Pike was in September when the cloud base was at about 1,000 feet. We went up from Wasdale Head by the Hollow Stones route, which I think many inexperienced walkers use, and there were quite a few groups looking a bit out of their comfort zone.
We crossed to Scafell and there were several walkers gathered round the stretcher box on Mickledore - apparently a couple of lads had spent the night in it after getting lost the previous evening!
I'm generally anti too much regulation of individual freedom to go and enjoy the great outdoors (unless it involves 4x4s, but that's another topic!), but you do start to wonder what sort of guidance some people should be made to read before they set out!

I think we've all seen that situation unfurl SD, it's difficult as you don't want to appear demeaning or insinuate that it might be a terrible idea. I remember last year I was coming down from Three Tarns towards Eskdale and not from from the road I met three young lads carrying a crate of cider and asking the direction to Scafell Pike. There are no easy options from there (Little Narrow Cove?) and I often wonder if they made it. Like Mr SD, I checked the MRT reports that night but nothing appeared!
Tim - yep, I'll that one to the list. Nice one
