I think Chris is right though - Martin Goodman is a good writer and there are some lovely turns of phrase.

An extra problem for me is I'm growing to hate fictionalised autobiography or autobiographical fiction. Do one or the other!

It's like anything (even Space Opera), when it is done well, it is good (HHhH, for example), but it can also stink like rotting fish.

Anyway, isn't it accepted that all autobiography is fiction, and most biography also? Any account, unless just a catalogue of verifiable facts, is only a version of a life.

NIM
1) An annoying high pitched word with no meaning. Used to infuriate a person trying to have a reasoned argument with you by repeating it over and over whilst they talk. Very peurile but strangely satisfying to do.
