Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I'm sure that the shoes would allow you to be *very* aware of that fact, Greg. Also of when you stand on a big stone, or something sharp.

I am wondering about whether there is a technical possibility of a foot-propelled human aquaplaning, and what speed they would have to attain if so. Greater than the 120mph quote for a bike, I would think.

[I'm fairly sure I've 'aquaplaned' on multiple surfaces ~ but, previously, I've erroneously put it down to 'skidding' or 'slipping' :-o . I will take this new term on board ...

But as a mass attempting to carry on in one direction over ruling the intent of changing direction of travel I'm also fairly sure that the previous mislabled 'skidding' and 'slipping' has prevented me from breaking off at the knees and, for a short time, travelling in new and interesting dimensions and directions :-o :-) ]

{I've now found an item called the AquaPlane which appears to be a dorsal-finned swim float, somewhat reminiscent of Thunderbird 4. It's for kids, but I quite fancy a "hooded owl-towel and AquaPlane bundle" (although I'm not quite sure what is owly about the towelly).}

[I always considered The Hooded Claw to be British ... well, English really. Not the dame, I know :-( ]
