Perhaps your last sentence was corrupted by the memory of the smoke at a Man concert. In about 1974 I saw them at the Top Rank in Cardiff where my drug of choice was just the alcohol in beer form served at the bar but it seemed like everyone else was smoking a joint. I have never felt so unwell after just 2 pints and inhaling about a cubic mile of air polluted by marijuana. from the little I remember of the night the music was good but everyone was calling for "bananas" from the first riff of the first song. Must have really pissed off the group. |

Hello Dai, I'll have to dig it out of a box in the loft, or Google it. I can't remember who's on it, but I've got a double L.P. entitled "Christmas at the Patti." Not sure I've got the correct spelling. It was a Christmas concert recorded live in Swansea, (I think). Man are on it definitely. I'm not sure of the other bands, as I say, I'll have to dig it out. I think Budgie are on there & possibly The Pink Fairies. It's funny, as the years go by, I've forgotten about a lot of the bands I saw in my miss-spent youth. I'd forgotten all about Man until I saw their L.P. on Amazon Music. Ive also downloaded a couple of Pink Fairy L.P's as well. I saw them many moons ago & thought they were quite good. Also downloaded a couple of Gong L.P's. Talking of dope, one of the tracks on a Gong L.P. is entitled, "Pot head pixies from the planet Gong." Say no more. |

The Patti pavilion is in Swansea, named after a famous opera singer Adelina Patti. It was a popular venue in the 70s, less so now. Man did record "Live at the Padgett rooms, Penarth" but only pressed a few thousand iirc, I should imagine finding a copy would be difficult. Discussing this has brought back a few memories of that night, out of the haze lol |

It's a bit off the normal orbit of this thread, but tonight (from 11pm) Radio 3 are broadcasting Max Richter's eight-hour piece, Sleep. I expect to be dipping in and out of it. bbc.co.uk

Can anyone correct my Fetch Top 100 list from 2010 - 70 and 73 are missing, though one of them is probably the start of a massive misnumbering by 1 |

Just been treated, along with everyone else on the small estate where we live!, to a very loud 40s singalong with Vera Lynn and many others on a Huuuugggge hi-fi system owned by a neighbour. All 4 immediate roads all had various inhabitants singing away at the tops of their voices but still could not drown out the recording. All together now... We'll meet again etc we'll be hanging out the washing... My eyes are dim I cannot see... Bit of fun on a normally very staid area, still giggling an hour or so later |

I hate that song. There’s loads of better war-era singalong songs, in my opinion.
