I was saying they're blacked out cos he is sponsored by On Running.
I presume he hasn't breached his contract.

I understand SPR , i was responding to Gus's comment.
Interesting that only a couple of the top 10 at the US Olympic Trials marathon were wearing Nikes.

I was actually referring to the womens race where only Sally Kipyego was in Nikes, Molly and Aliphine were in Sauconys and Hoka (She's a Hoka Naz Elite runner). Yes, the top 3 men were in Nikes

SKR - I've got a feeling that women's podiums have been more "brand diverse" than men's - eg Lilly Partridge winnning today in Adidas. Could this indicate something biomechanical that means men are more likely to be "responders" to the Nikes?

AJLB maybe we tend to stomp our feet more when we run :). have you seen the advert from a rival shoe company where the Alphaflys are dropped on the floor and bounce all the way back up ? If its a case of energy return then having a heavier footfall might be the solution

Hmmm seems more likely to be down to the way sponsorship is working. Are Nike spending more hoovering up the top men especially at national level?

Given their poor history with female athletes, I wouldn't be surprized if Nike are behaving as you say SPR. Equally, as SKR says, it couldn't be a simple issue of body-weight/footfall - ie the improved cushioning/bounce benefits heavier male runners more. Does anyone have figures to bear out my feeling about male/female podium brands?
