Now then mesdames et monsieurs. Avez vous read the latest Book Group selection? Vous have?

Splendid. How about you share your thoughts below?

There may be SPOILERS ahead, so while there's music and moonlight and love and romance... let's share our opinions and dance.

I am on chapter 3 but wanted to get this down here as I might sling thoughts in as they occur to me.

Actually that's not a bad idea.
I am mid chapter 2 but already finding it hard to put down. I keep reading "just another little section"

And clearly I did not stay away from the thread until I finished the book.
I lied.

I am really enjoying it but have a nagging trepidation that it might end up being a bit episodic by its very nature: Chapter 1 early life, Chapter 2 school, Chapter 3 army... so that we get a different set of people each time.

The things I am most reminded of so far:

The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie

Michael Moorcock's non-fantasy historical novel Byzantium Endures (and its sequels) - which covers the life of a Russian emigre to Britain throughout the 20th century.

Glad I popped in, and that the discussion has started already. It does keep you reading just a little bit more. There is an episodic quality to the book but I think it hangs together very well arounnd the constant that is John James Todd.
