Hann - I bought some samplers and then from those explored further. When I get my vinyl back I'll have a root through for some recommendations. I had a good look around for some of them on t'interweb last night but couldn't find what I was looking for.

Also good to bear in mind that there are crossover tunes that get categorised elsewhere. R & B, things that were chart hits such as Dobie Gray's Out On The Floor, Maxine Nightingale's Right Back to Where We Started From etc.

Can pick up some good things that way.

Think I got into Chairman of the Board because at least one of their songs was big on the NS scene. They're now a fave band of mine. Ditto Millie Jackson.

This cassette tape got me into Northern Soul. I bought most of the NME samplers. I was broken-hearted when my boyfriend at the time had it stolen from his car, along with a few of my other NME samplers. This is easily the one I miss the most.
