Ran 3.20 yesterday and pretty pleased with that 4 weeks on from London. Paced the first 8 miles steady picked up pace till mile 20, suffered with piriformis pain from 23-25 and lost a bit time stopping to stretch off. Overall I thought it was a decent inaugural marathon for Stirling but many areas need improvement for this event to become an annual event and success. Start area lacked enough toilet facilities and the park & ride by all accounts for many was a bit of a shambles, I was reasonably lucky in that regard. Course was challenging and long way from pancake flat but worst part was the lapped section X 3 and the underpasses. No issue with 1 lap around the city as crowd support especially in the shopping area was outstanding. The underpasses and the area around riverside was also needing a water station around about where the shower was. Disappointed to see the post event survey being bog standard and no opportunity for general constructive feedback, hope they pay attention to the many social media comments I've seen especially Facebook offering positive suggestions. 6/10 overall for course and organisation with 10/10 for atmosphere and crowd support. Hope they make the necessary tweaks to make the marathon better. |

Yes I was disappointed by the survey, was expecting a chance to say my bit then it was finished! Was also quite poorly written- in questions where your answer was "other" it still forced you to select one of the multiple choice questions

I don't know if they have changed the survey, but there were boxes at the end when I completed it last night to add comments and suggestions, which I did (pretty much the things everyone has been saying here - more toilets, less laps at the end, late change of sports drink, more shuttle buses, and for me - I want somone to hang the medal round my neck after 26.2 miles, not have to fish it out of a carrier bag, however nice a medal it is!).

Great running - I'm definitely planning to do this next year! In the meantime, I grabbed a seat just at that nasty turn at the top of the Uni and grabbed a few pictures - feel free to grab them if you can find yourself alanpotter.smugmug.com |

Thanks Alan. You managed to catch me smiling, and I didn't even realise that Liz McColgan was in my wake!
