Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Just a couple today...
Did get out for a run, but only after a psych appointment and hence neither the brain or the weather was conducive. Had planned on going past the museum library window and a couple of other spots.
Just two from a walk a few minutes ago.

Information on where the park came from.
Also, the knowledge from here forms the basis for us asserting estover rights in the woods in order to help fuel the fire.

Plaque by the Montgarrie bridge that tells of its construction and history.

Where else can you show off your knowledge?

Sticky 13's is quite common in the Notts pubs and surrounding area. Basically it is bingo, each punter gets a different set of 13 cards and the organiser shuffles a pack, then turns over the cards one by one. The first person to have all their cards turned over by him wins. You can imagine the state of the cards, hence the sticky part of the name.

That nursery building is wonderfully decorated. :-) We need more of that kind of thing.

This is where i taught from 1976 to 2012. When i started it was Beeston College, then Broxtowe College as we expanded, Castle College as we amalgamated with Peoples College, South Notts College as they took us over, Central College, Nottingham College as all the FE colleges in Nottingham were finally lumped into one great mess. I had 15 different staff rooms all in the same buildings. This building had had 2 million spent on updating, refurbishing, moving in Hair and Beauty, Design and Building.

In 2012 the outlook was bleak for A levels and i took redundancy, confirmed and paid (a week after i had accepted a job at the University. ;-) )
In 2014 they moved all A level and international students (my area of teaching Maths) into the middle of Nottingham and now the building is closed but for a small admin centre. What a bunch of idiots run it now.

This is how the front looks, where the hairdressing replaced the library, a good million spent on it. Note how the tram stop still carries the name of the College before the last take over.

This is my examination room for students of Bath University, formally our dining room. My daughter is taking her finals in here, but i don't seem to have a fee for invigilating.

and my final knowledge entry - today i ran to the University of Nottingham to take this picture of my room in Hugh Stewart Hall (L3) in my first year in 1971-2. It was a lovely old room, used to be doubles as it dates to the original university college in 1937. The 12 rooms in L Block shared 3 toilets, 2 baths and 2 showers. There used to be Virginia Creeper all around the old block, now sadly removed.

What knowledge did i learn there? Most importantly, if you're going to be sick, use the waste paper bucket not the sink.
