Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Has to be the least-worst, and fairest, solution, although it does mean that some streaks may be broken.

The organisers are pretty good re allowing transfers - I'm pretty sure that anybody who really wanted to do the race and missed out on the ballot will still get a place (at least that's what I've convinced myself!!)

Spot on JB. With the dropout rate if you really want a place you will get one. I've got places in two separate years from injured runners transferring their entry.

Fingers crossed that those who are successful in the ballots are as aware of how precious their place is and pass it on of they can't run. Part of me wonders whether casual, speculative ballot entrants who are successful might not quite realise the importance of selling on the places (with the race organisers permission of course).

larkim, I will go out on a limb, but SNOD ain't no VLM. Without exception people are fully aware of the challenge that awaits.

True, but perhaps the concept of a ballot will encourage more casual entrants? Let's hope I'm wrong!

That might be true with a celeb fest like VLM, but all those luvvies trekking out to North Wales at the end of October when it is cold, wet and generally disgusting, can't see it.

Just looking at the results lists I'd say that 80% of those who enter actually toe the start line. The previous entrance policy was getting a bit of a farce, although I was pleased when the organisers moved the opening of the entries from midnight on NYE. I stand by my 2p worth re entries becoming available nearer the time due to the organisers allowing transfers (at no extra cost). That said, from a selfish view point I'm not too concerned having read last night that runners who have taken part in more than 10 will be guaranteed a place

...and so they should! Supporting an event for a decade should be rewarded.
