Went for a training run in the (relatively!) sheltered surroundings of Loch Leven. The challenge of winter marathon training starting to dawn on me

Johnny - I tell myself that if I've do all the training through the worst that winter can throw at me, then come race day on (hopefully) a nice Spring day then it will seem so much easier

Ran Erskine Bridge 10k this morning. Was brutal on the way back over nice mixture of stiff wind and what felt like hailstones. Lots of nice tea and cake afterwards though.
Great value race.

Winter training is character building! XC, mud, cold, wet, wind, snow, hail - what's not to love?! Like Gus says, you use it, come race day, to tell yourself how hard you've worked and draw on it for a PB performance.
Good effort sjjh - not one I would have fancied, I don't think! G

Cheers Gus and G. The wind was just brutal today, I don't expect rain and/or freezing temperatures to put me off as much as the wind does.

I don't feel as safe running in the dark, which sounds silly but where I am there are either really urban routes or ones that really are too quiet to be safe and I end up running along really busy roads.

That's a shame k-poo. Jump in the car and come and join us at Saughton track on Thu, Balerno streets or Pentland hills (head torches) on Wed? Or run straight after work round the well lit industrial estates? I do that sometimes. G
