I'm surprised you've never run it before, @Ally-C. I have of course never run it, though spectated a few times. Always a few students misled into thinking it'll be a nice evening out ![]() (One year, I did contemplate it. I was a bit hill fitter. But decided I might do the easier Gargunnock Hill Race instead. Although for reasons I can't recall, that never happened either. That's on 6th June btw ![]() |

Wasn’t sure whether the Gargunnock Hill race was going ahead, thought the Hay family organised it.

Gargunnock is on the Scottish Hill Runners calendar, so hopefully it's on. Although I don't think this is my year for it ![]() I have cycled the Tak Me Doon, many years ago. It was easy coming doon. Actually, that's not even entirely true. It's certainly a bit of a test. Think I've only done it from the Carronbridge side. |

always sunny on Dumyat in May!! coming down off the top section of the hill harder than going up, watch those ankles. Up the Tak ma doon is hard and you will feel like your heart is coming out your chest, but great feeling once you get up to the car park, just watch the wee ford a mile in on the downhill. have you got a road or MTB? wouldnt fancy it on a MTB..... |

Both. Would you say it’s harder than Logie Kirk? |

57.5 Degrees of Pain
Only done Tak Me Doon road from the south, it was a hard but steady climb. Feels good to stop for the view at the top but wasn't a really hard slog. As noted above the Doon part is fun. I'd rather do the classic Campsies circuit anticlockwise than climb the Crow Road and take on Tak Me Doon Road from the north. |

I don't think Tak Ma Doon has any 20% hairpin bends, but I think the rest is harder, and crucially, considerably longer. Unless after Logie Kirk you turn right and keep heading up Sheriffmuir!
