I don’t do it often but the numbers did feel like they were close to the limit and I also sensed other park users were not keen on Sharing.

Maybe I should add to the numbers tomorrow.

168 hours in a week & there are runners running for maybe an hour max.

People really are arseholes.

The size Edinburgh is could they not have another parkrun somewhere else too? Would take a bit of pressure off the others then perhaps. We are spoilt for choice up here.

The "where" is a real problem for Edinburgh, and something people have been butting their heads against for the last ten years. If you look at a map there's lots of green space - on closer inspection, nearly all golf courses. The actual parks are: pretty small, have conflicting use issues eg Meadows, Leith Links, or both.

As Dvorak says, lots of effort has been put into getting events in Edinburgh, but venues are difficult. One I heard suggested years ago was Bilston Glen, nice running area but hilly and maybe too complicated a course.

Only been to three events that seemed to have outgrown their course in some way, Porty was one (along with Salisbury and Victoria Park in Glasgow). But if the core team can organise it safely I hope they win the argument.

Just looked at the map. Didn’t know there were so many golf courses there! Don’t suppose that much has changed since I left but then again I wasn’t a runner when I lived there.

There have been a few suggested and one I believe was close to starting pre Covid

I have thought Hailes Quarry Park would make a good venue.

Sorry to hear that Lorraine. Hope Porty survives. Lovely wee parkrun. :-) G
