Fleetwood Mac were one of the bands you just had to listen to as I was growing up. Rumours would still be one of my desert island discs. RIP Songbird.

Another mighty female presence in the development of popular music. Raised on the blues and 24 years in the R n R Hall of Fame with Fleetwood Mac.

Her voice on Lies and Everywhere perfectly complemented the 80s style production on Tango in the Night

Also had a very good desert island discs episode

Couldn't believe it when I saw how old she was. If you'd asked I'd have said early sixties even though I KNOW Fleetwood Mac were already a mature band when I was listening to Little Jimmy Osmond. A real icon.

She's all over local media because she was born in Bouth and local media loves a Cumbrian that done good. It means Helen Skelton can have a rest.

I put Songbird on to wake up to. What a talent. And 79 seems relatively young. Sad. RIP. G

I don't know. All that sex drugs and rock roll. (And the band were known for it) Bound to take it's toll.

The soundtrack of my formative life. Rather like Glenn Frey of The Eagles. I'll find it hard to believe when I listen to her songs.

Just listening to her 2017 Desert Island discs. So presumably 74 years old, and she sounded completely lucid and healthy. But I agree, it must have had an effect on their physical health in body and brain. But anyway, great artist and wonderful legacy of music. :-) G

A pang or two of guilt here, recalling the many times I've been sniffy about AOR in general and The Mac in particular. A case of turmoil producing great music?

Merry Christmas and Happy NewG(rrr) would need to relisten to be sure but from memory she didn’t regret anything and seemed to have enjoyed the ups and downs of her life

Swittle - the Mac are one of those bands who were different genres depending on the lineup and album aren’t they
