Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Sounds good. Is it served with soured cream, or similar?

What I’ve made in the past hadn’t been particularly authentic. Crusty bread is the main thing to go with it, and salty butter ;-)

Borscht is one of those cold soups, right? I like beetroot, but cold soup just sounds weird :)

“Borscht mit smetana” was an early feature of my Russian lessons (Borscht with sour cream). Used as a noun to practice with rather than actually eating the stuff

Ah, in that case I'm a bloody idiot. Regular forumites will not be surprised at this development :)

We had haggis last night. It did not look appetising, and is not a meal we will seek to make again...

A bit of Googling suggest borscht can be served hot or cold

Looks tasty, Nico. Plentiful mustard seeds?

Very pleased with tea tonight: stir fry noodles with marinated tofu, spring onions and peppers. Used a home grown chilli 🌶️
