Which do I need to see?
Have been having difficulty getting up when I have been lying down, usually totally flat, but not always. Any sort of movement is extremely painful and I need to make very small movements and gradually work my way back up to standing. Once I'm up and moving the pain usually goes fairly quickly. Doesn't always happen but is getting more frequent.

I would see your GP. She can assess you and refer you onto physio if necessary. You are describing a dermatomal pattern which may indicate a bit of nerve root irritation/disc protrusion, but at a higher level than most ever get symptoms. The fact that it goes away on movement goes against this a bit too.
One of the GPs might offer a bit of advice, its more their field than mine.
In my opinion osteos and chiros are a different business. Make sure you have no significant health problems through your GP. If mainstream medicine excludes serious illness and fails to control your symptoms then you may want to see osteo/chiro types. Some of them are quite sensible, but some of them are verging on witchcraft.
