I am 16th on the wait list. It is an estimated 6 month wait. I might be a bit late with my review.

I had actually read this before it was chozzed in a time-travel anomaly. I really liked it. However, I liked the sequel 'Olive, Again' and one of her others 'My Name is Lucy Barton' even more. It put me in mind a little of Garrison Keillor, with a bit more bite. My Mum really liked it, but kept getting it confused with Eleanor Olephant, which I hated, and then kept saying 'you won't like it, it's all about old people'. Which it is. But it isn't. It's about people. There was just enough overlap between the stories for me to not feel overwhelmed, and I thought it was beautifully written. I liked the fact that you see the characters through the eyes of another character, and have to work out what's going on. I have given it an 8. I'm aware that I haven't said much that is useful or thoughtful about it, but there you go.

Dio, I might be able to borrow my Mum's copy for you. And I'm sure you'd get it in a charity shop.

You get used to things, he thinks, without getting used to things.
Thanks McDL. Right now this is the perfect bowl of noodles. I’m sure I’ll tire and long for elves and spaceships and tall loners by the end, but right now it’s perfect.
