150 runners this year on the start list, over 100 for the 24 hour. Would be a tad busy if everyone had a support runner or 2! I don't think anyone needs a support runner with this one. Laps are short and i don't see anyone getting lost. Dod ran a lap or 2 with me the first year and Andy Murray joined in for a half a lap but I'm happier on my own. My name seems to be down for the 24 hour but i'll probably do the 12 hour as we just get back from our running holiday on the Monday.

Nobody should get lost. Although Ray stopped for a fag and then set off the wrong way back down the course.... Ray is a special case however.

Hoping to do my biggest back to back so far, this weekend: 32 Sat and 18 or 20 on Sunday. Last weekend's 21 on Fri, Sat off, then Sun 30 worked quite well (had to go up to my mum's on Sat to help her out with some chores).
With those big weekends, this week and last will add up to 150 miles! I sometimes don't do that in a month! Then it's a cut back week, then World Record attempt marathon weekend up in Lewis (with a 20 on the Sunday to make that a back to back too!)
Then a cutback, then one more big weekend, 3 weeks out, 16th and 17th August. Thinking of a 40 and 20. Anyone else doing something long 3 weeks out? Or what other shapes of plans do you all have?
Really looking forward to this. It's just training for WHW, but it's gonna be a fun learning experience and huge challenge of course, in itself. Just read RedWineRunner's brilliant Great Glen blog to remind myself of what a serious undertaking a "long ultra" is (because Fling, at 53 miles was only a "medium ultra"). Great blog and good learnings in there for me too. G

I'm "only" doing the 12 hour but my longest race so far is just 14.5 miles!
I averaged around 40 miles a month for the first half of the year but since the Midsummer Highland Relay (leg 3) I have been increasing the weekly mileage.
Last two weeks have been 63 & 64.
In terms of long runs I've been pretty much doing one big run at the weekend, three weeks ago 17, two weeks ago 21 and last weekend 14 on Saturday, 11 on Sunday.
This weekend I plan on doing 25-30, next weekend totalling 25-30 another back to back and the following weekend around 30-35 (3rd/4th August) the week after wil be another back to back so I'll similarly be doing my last big run on 17th August. Not yet decided how far I want to go but would be nice to get 7-8 hours in so I get a feeling what that will be like.
