Diogenes
People only go on about them because people go on about people going on about them.

I can't believe people are dissing the band that gave us:

I'd like to be
under the sea
in an octopus's garden
in the shade

and

Hey, Bungalow Bill
What did you kill
Bungalow Bill?

The SB is mostly gone and I am truly thankful for that, but without the SB there would be no 'Saint' Paul McCartney.

No 'Saint' Paul McCartney would mean that the following pile of gash would be nowhere near this deathmatch:

The moon is right
The spirit's up
We're here tonight
And that's enough

Simply having a wonderful Christmas time
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

The party's on
The feelin's here
That only comes
This time of year

Simply having a wonderful Christmas time
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

So the SB are really still here, sadly. Why won't they FUCK OFF?

and of course, Rupert and the Frog Chorus

Win or lose
sink or swim
one thing is certain
we'll never give in

Side by side
hand in hand
we all stand together

Play the game
fight the fight
but what's the point
on a beautiful night

Arm in arm
hand in hand
we all stand together

La.....
keeping us warm
in the night
la-la-la-la.....
walk in the night
you'll get it right

Do-do-do
do-do-do
do-do-do-do-do
do-do-do-do-do

Oh actually... I'm just assuming it was. I forgot that McCartney's an all-year round cack-releaser

Released 12 Nov 1984 so he was probably hoping for a Mull of Kintyre style chart dominating Xmas cash-grab from it.

How long was the Mull of Arsing Kin-bloody-tyre No.1? Fairly sure I was in nappies when it first got to number 1, and by the time it was ousted I was shaving (albeit carefully to avoid the acne), but I may be slightly mistaken?

Diogenes
Christmas 1977, I always associate the end of that year with that song and also We Are The Champignons (a little earlier)
