Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Thanks - I was there sometime back in the mid-90s, but the snow and ice were not. :-)

I did spot some cones today, but they were there to show where the parking was for a wake so I didn’t stop to take a picture.

I have found some white gates. They are right in the middle of the village - old level crossing gates. The railway has long since disappeared but the gates are well looked after.

Dammit!
I stood by 2 separate level crossings on my run today. One for 10 minutes at the start of my run, waiting to cross, the other for 25 minutes at the end, waiting for my train home.
Did I even think "Oooh white gates, I should take a picture"?
No. No I did not.

They usually use the black and white cones for funerals and wakes, but these were the police style ones.

I nearly took a photo of two near-identical (uniform and very similar beards were a big help here) policemen today. They were standing facing each other and I thought ‘reflection!’, but sadly they moved before I got phone from pocket. Might not have been very appropriate, I suppose.

I did think of taking a picture of the gates, but I really don’t need people in the village thinking I am any odder than they already do. The gates will have to be photographed early in the morning, or in a location a bit further from home.

I’ve found that, if given odd looks or asked, when I say “It’s a treasure hunt thing” that people immediately twig and want to help.

I haven't yet been asked but have also got that answer up my sleeve that I am doing a treasure hunt rather than taking photos of someone's house, garden etc so that I can come back and burgle it later!

But equally, when I’m in running gear, taking photos (eg) of pot holes in the middle if nowhere in the New Forest, I’m surprised anyone wants to engage or chat.
