It will entail turning up at the Yarborough Leisure centre, and running a mile. Date and time to be advised. Depending on how many people get involved will depend on how much it costs and how long it will take. I'll have the stadium for our group for an hour, minimum. In the Yorkshire one I did a couple of years ago there were three seeded groups according to predicted pace. There'll be time for a warmup as well, and if I'm needing to get value from the hire of the track, I'll throw in a couple of 100m sprints or such like. If there are kids around I'll organise some kind of race for them. It'll be "properly" timed if I can get a working stopwatch and the results will be available. There'll be medals if anyone wants them, the option to bring and share cake if that's your thing, race numbers will be made with your Fetch name on, and any other elements to make the whole experience more exciting will be considered. If I can get recommendations from folk nearer the venue, there could well be drinks afterwards. It's a good afternoon out, and a rare chance to run a competitive mile - as you'll be running against others. It's a bit of fun more than anything. We'll have to share the hire fee of £52 between the group, so ten people will be just over a fiver, and if we can get 20 we could run two or three races and have a fun hour for £2.50. |

At the moment Bournemouthlass might be the only woman involved. That may or may not be too much fun for her, so more women would be welcomed.

I think myself and my sister would be interested. It would obviously depend on date and time.

Thankfully, that's a bit of a moveable feast. Once I've got a decent number of people expressing an interest, we'll thrash out the nitty-gritty amongst us.

a 3-legged mile would be awesome, but would also probably result in fatalities. A 3-legged over the "classic" 100m distance would be fun. Anything longer than that, I suspect one side of the bends would be an unfair advantage. I quite fancy having a Fetch long/triple jump. Nothing too technical there, so everyone could enjoy it. Perhaps between races if folk are warming up. |
