You in my garden with those spots Derby? Welsh Castles Relay weekend, too many birds to mention, but noticeable numbers of swifts across mid and south Wales. Loads of birds of prey that I couldn't recognise over Brecon Beacons, although did have a fantastic close up display of a kestrel.

There aren’t that many raptors bonners. Start with kestrel and buzzard. Sparrowhawk next. Red kite (big, v tail) and merlin (small and fast) and you’re virtually there

Yeah, definitely not red kites, although I was quite shocked that we didnt actually see any the whole weekend considering we travelled across country from North to South coast, very strange.

Good to hear your buzzards are OK D2.

Oddly, I had a buzzard being mobbed by 2 curlews over the house the other day!

Here it seems that the Swallows have been evicted by the House Martins. For a number of years we have had a Swallows nest under an archway but this year the Martins have moved in and done some rebuilding. Sadly though it would seem we no longer have any resident Swallows, though they did use the old nest for roosting a month or so ago :-( Not sure if the Martins are also using their old nest sites under the eaves of one of the neighbouring properties or not but we do have a good half dozen whizzing overhead this evening.
