Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Last year OH and I visited Cornwall for a few days - 2 days in St Ives and 2 days in Padstow suited us perfectly (we also visited Lands End Port Isaac and Boscastle)

We would love to go again this year, but not really sure where, although we are thinking Looe and my OH would like to go back to Padstow.

Any suggestions or recommendations?

We basically like walking and eating and drinking. Not really into galleries or museums, and don't want to be anywhere too naff/touristy with noddy trains and the like!

Thinking of going towards the end of September, and would also consider a couple of nights in Devon instead on our way home (to Surrey)

You've already been to most of my favourite places down there. If you fancied a change from the coast on your way back, I can recommend an excellent B&B on the edge of Dartmoor.

Depends what you like really but as I am from Helston I recommend Porthleven, The Lizard (Kynance Cove particularly), Falmouth, St Michaels Mount. Walking sections of the coast path from The Lizard round to Poldhu are nice too. These are less touristy than St Ives so it does depend what you like....

Rock or Polzeath on the North coast. Over the estuary from Padstow (lovely ferry crossing). Lots of excellent walking and eating opportunities.

Thanks everyone :) Some great suggestions :)

CE - that hotel looks gorgeous and would make a great base for visiting the the Lizard and other places. I think I'll give watersports a miss in September though, I'm a total wuss when it come to cold water!!

Nicholls - if we go to Padstow I think we'll definitely check out Rock and/or Polzeath

I can strongly recommend the Mariners Inn in Rock. Co-owned by Sharps brewery (brewed at Rock) and Nathan Outlaw. Great beer and outstanding food.

Good shout about the Helford area. If you're into walking there are loads of National Trust places with excellent gardens and plenty of exploring to do: Trelissick near Truro, Trebah and Glendurgan not far from Falmouth, and opposite St Ives is Godrevy, from where you can ramble the coastal path towards Portreath.

Food: Philps of Hayle. Drink: Doom Bar, Tribute or Proper Job.
