Just curious about people's experiences off the championship start, or if anyone has any hints or tips that were worth knowing?
I realise there are no pacers from this start section (correct me if i am wrong), so if anyone wants to to run about 3.10 pace, I'd be so happy for some company (long shot, i know).

I’m in the same boat- wondering what the championship start is going to be like. I’ve heard the line for the toilet isn’t as long, but that’s about it. My PB is 3:08.40 so I’ll be around the 3:10 mark this time around hopefully. Good luck.

It's decadent! Velvet roped off area, dancing girls, chill out lounge, bean bags!
Just kidding - it's very similar with a tent to hide / change in, someone might come and measure your logos or tell you off for having a name on your top you shouldnt have.

Wouldnt worry about pace as most will be very fast given 2:45 qualifying time for men. Dont start too fast

It’s now even faster than before for men - 2.40.

A tent does sound pretty decadent to me ha
Great PB having just had a race with a group running at same pace as me, it made everything so much easier. Hope your training has gone well

Free Lucozade? I was in Red (F)GFA a couple of years and thought ooh, shorter loo queues and free tents and drinks err, no! But looking across at Champs (not sure why they were at Red that year, normally Blue?) and you lot had free energy drinks! Good luck all. G

try asking on one of the fast marathon threads: sub 2:45 or sub 3 threads will have those who have been there before 👍🏻

I've really enjoyed my times on the champs start - short loo queues, a tent to shelter in, a section of road available for a warm up, and you get to keep your kitbag for longer before having to dump it on the baggage lorry too. Not to mention the chance to line up behind some superstars.
Do bear in mind that it is full of extremely fast people so if you are in the 3:00-3:15 camp then start at the back or you'll find yourself setting a mile PB in mile 1! And don't be surprised if someone measures your socks, inspects your vest and queries the meaning behind your Fetch buff

I'm not joking about the socks! There are rules about the size of logo you can have on any of your kit as champs start is under UKA competitive rules and doesn't allow advertising. Pretty much all standard running kit is compliant anyway unless it has a massive logo, but I did have to justify my Fetch buff as it had the logo all over it, and one year I had to turn my compressport calf guards inside out as the logo was too big. I said the Fetch buff was a website and that seemed good enough though. Unhelpfully, the piece of paper with these rules on is only given to you when you register, by which point you've probably already chosen and packed your one set of kit for the race. I last ran off champs in 2017 or 2018, so it might have changed now - maybe you'll get an email in advance.
You need to be a member of a UKA affiliated club and wear the correct vest - there will be people with clipboards checking you on the way in and whilst sometimes you can saunter in undetected (don't meet their eye!), other times you will be checked. Charity vests are not allowed, fancy dress is *certainly* not allowed
